Hudson Young agrees to two-year deal with PNG Chiefs
Hudson Young has agreed to join the PNG Chiefs on a two-year deal from 2028, after touring Port Moresby last week. The Chiefs increased their offer to around $1 million a season tax-free, in line with the NRL's revised market valuation of $1 million, and Young is expected to formally announce the move this week. He is likely to remain at Canberra next season, with most rival clubs lacking cap space for an early move and Young midway through a nine-month recovery from a ruptured Achilles. The Raiders had offered him a four-year, $4.4 million deal before withdrawing it last month, and coach Ricky Stuart said money was behind Young's decision. Young joins a Chiefs roster that already includes Jarome Luai, Alex Johnston, Zac Lomax, Connor Watson, Brian To'o and Joey Manu.
