Hawaii and Utah favourites to co-host 2030 Rugby League World Cup

Hawaii and Utah are the favourites to co-host the 2030 Rugby League World Cup, with the International Rugby League expected to make an announcement on Monday. Nations were told of the likely outcome at a meeting in Sydney on Saturday, although final confirmation is still needed. Both states were chosen because of their large Pasifika populations, and pool matches could be played in a Magic Round-style format across the two. There are also plans for Europe to host the 2034 tournament. It comes after record television ratings and regular sellouts at this year's World Cup. A previous US and Canada bid to host the 2025 tournament was scrapped in 2018 over financial concerns.
