Broncos bracing to lose Jordan Riki as Brendan Piakura draws interest

Brisbane are bracing to lose Jordan Riki, with the premiership-winning back-rower negotiating with rival clubs and unlikely to stay beyond next season. The Broncos are not expected to enter a bidding war for Riki, who earns around $500,000 and could command more than $700,000 a season once the salary cap rises in 2028. He has been linked to the Warriors and Storm but will see out the final year of his contract in 2027. Coach Michael Maguire declined to comment on his future. The Broncos also face a battle to keep Brendan Piakura, who has three or four solid inquiries including from the Cowboys. His manager Allan Gainey said Piakura likes the Broncos and is settled in Brisbane but is open to exploring the market. New recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan described Piakura as elite, saying his form in the first half of next season will be vital after recent head knocks.
