Chiefs confirm Sam Walker interest after missing out on Nathan Cleary
The PNG Chiefs have confirmed Sam Walker is on their list of targets after Nathan Cleary chose to stay at Penrith. Coach Willie Peters said he would like to sign the Roosters halfback, but only if Walker genuinely wants to play in Port Moresby. With Jarome Luai, Alex Johnston, Zac Lomax, Brian To'o and Joey Manu already signed, Peters said finding the right halfback is the key piece for the club's first season in 2028. Walker's manager Clinton Schifcofske said PNG is one of several clubs being considered, but no decision has been made and Walker is focused on the World Cup. The Chiefs have also been given permission by the Storm to talk to Cameron Munster, while Zane Harrison has re-signed with the Titans.
