Api Koroisau to meet surgeons over World Cup facial fracture

Wests Tigers captain Api Koroisau will meet surgeons on Friday to determine the extent of a facial fracture suffered while playing for Fiji at the World Cup. Koroisau left the field nine minutes into Fiji's final pool match against New Zealand, with medical staff initially fearing a broken jaw. The injury has turned out to be a facial fracture, and he could have surgery as early as Monday. The Tigers are hopeful he will be ready to begin training after Christmas, although the setback could delay the start of his pre-season. It comes as the Tigers' younger players returned to training this week under coach Benji Marshall and new assistant Ryan Carr.
