AJ Brimson close to joining PNG Chiefs as Titans agree severance package

AJ Brimson is close to joining the PNG Chiefs after the Titans and the expansion club agreed on a severance package following more than two months of talks. Brimson is contracted to the Gold Coast until 2030 on about $900,000 a season, but has spent most of this year at centre after Keano Kini took over at fullback. The Chiefs offered around $700,000 a season tax-free from 2028 to 2030, with the Titans covering the shortfall, meaning Brimson could take home roughly $1 million more over three years. He has not yet signed and will tour Port Moresby before making a final decision. Chiefs coach Willie Peters has confirmed his interest in making Brimson the club's foundation fullback. It is unclear whether he will stay at the Titans in 2027 or play elsewhere for a season.
