Roosters open to subsidising Sam Walker's exit for 2027
The Roosters are prepared to subsidise Sam Walker's move to another club for 2027 as the halfback heads to free agency on November 1. Walker earns around $1.05 million next season plus a car, and a subsidy of $200,000 to $300,000 would allow a rival to sign him for around $800,000. Walker still intends to play out his contract at the Roosters and won't decide his future until after the World Cup. Coach Trent Robinson said the club's position was clear and Walker would leave after 2027. Corey Parker urged the Roosters to reopen talks, while Brad Fittler backed chairman Nick Politis, saying the club always comes before the player. The PNG Chiefs enter the market on Sunday, but Walker couldn't play for them until 2028.
