Nick Politis confirms no reconciliation with Sam Walker after $300,000 gap

Roosters chairman Nick Politis has confirmed there will be no reconciliation with Sam Walker, saying the club is moving on after their contract talks collapsed. It has been revealed the breakdown came down to a $300,000 difference. The Roosters offered $1.1 million for 2028, $1.2 million for 2029 and $1.3 million for 2030, a base of $3.6 million that would have reached at least $4.2 million with a ratchet clause, but Walker's camp sought $1.3 million a season. Walker phoned Politis and coach Trent Robinson from Kangaroos camp to ease tensions, but Politis said the club had made its best offer. Walker still hopes to play out 2027 at the Roosters, though the club is planning for Hugo Savala and Toby Rodwell in the halves. He will be free to negotiate with rival clubs from Sunday, with the PNG Chiefs a legitimate option.
