Roosters pull $4 million offer to Sam Walker as Nick Politis ends talks

Sam Walker's future at the Roosters is in serious doubt after chairman Nick Politis withdrew the club's offer of more than $4 million on Monday night. The Roosters believed Walker had agreed to a three-year extension starting at around $1.2 million a season, with a ratchet clause that could lift it to $1.4 million, but his camp asked for more time before requesting a slight upgrade. Politis then instructed the club to pull the deal and has confirmed the Roosters won't return to negotiations. The club will honour Walker's contract for 2027 but will not stand in his way if he wants to leave immediately. Walker, who made his Test debut on Sunday, is now expected to attract interest from several clubs including the PNG Chiefs, and could command more than $1.5 million a season. His father Ben said Walker's preference remains to stay at the Roosters.
