Raiders pull record offer to Hudson Young, who is now expected to leave after 2027
Canberra have pulled their contract offer to Hudson Young, with the NSW and Australian back-rower now expected to leave the club after next season. The four-year deal, worth around $1.1 million a season, was the largest in Raiders history, but the club said it needed an answer before November 1 after negotiations stretched back to June. Young remains contracted for 2027 and is expected back for pre-season. The PNG Chiefs are now in the box seat, although their $900,000-a-season offer may not be approved by the NRL as it falls below his market value, and other clubs are expected to show interest. Canberra will now look elsewhere in a back-row market that includes Liam Martin, Briton Nikora and Jordan Riki.
