Eels bring back Peter Gentle and target Blaize Talagi return

Former Manly head of football Peter Gentle is set to return to Parramatta to lead the club's academy, replacing James Shepherd, who has joined the Perth Bears as an assistant coach. Gentle previously worked at the Eels as an assistant under Brad Arthur. The appointment comes as Parramatta target a return for former junior Blaize Talagi, who is set to become a free agent on November 1 as Penrith focus on retaining Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo. The Eels are keen to bring Talagi back as early as next season, initially in the centres, before shifting him to five-eighth in 2028 when Jarome Luai joins PNG. His younger brother Ryda debuted for Parramatta this year.
