Knights table $4 million extension for Bradman Best

Newcastle have tabled a deal for Bradman Best that could be worth upwards of $4 million, but it appears unlikely to stop the NSW and Australian centre hitting the open market on November 1. The offer, presented some weeks ago, is understood to be a four-year agreement worth around $820,000 a season, with a ratchet clause that could take it close to $1 million a year. Parramatta are preparing a big offer of their own that could make Best the highest-paid centre in the game, and could also look at Dolphins winger Jack Bostock depending on how the Best talks play out. Best has been named to start for Australia against Fiji in Brisbane on Sunday.
