Court bid launched to overhaul Wests Tigers' power base

A court case has been launched that could reshape control of the Wests Tigers. Former director Tony Andreacchio and his wife Denise are taking Holman Barnes Group, the licensed club that owns 90 per cent of the Tigers, to the NSW Supreme Court over a governance model that reserves five of its seven board seats for a select group of 20 debenture holders. They argue the system is oppressive and unfair to members, and want those seats declared vacant so members can vote for the entire board. Andreacchio, who was banned as a director in 2024, is also challenging his expulsion. The case follows two years of upheaval behind the scenes, including HBG retaking control of the Tigers board late last year. It is set to be heard on October 26.
