NRL consults clubs on Wildcard Weekend for ninth and 10th
The NRL is consulting clubs about introducing a Wildcard Weekend, potentially as early as next season, after the AFL's version proved a hit this year. The format would give the teams finishing ninth and 10th a chance to reach the finals, with Manly and Melbourne among the sides who would have qualified this season. Broadcasters have been kept informed, and if the concept is delayed it is expected to be for only one year. The 2027 draw is due for release after the World Cup.
