Xavier Willison tells Broncos he wants to stay as $4m deal awaits

Xavier Willison has verbally told the Broncos he wants to stay at the club, with a new deal worth around $4 million on the table. The Kiwi Test prop and Paul Morgan Medallist recently joined agent Ahmad Merhi, who also manages Souths-bound Payne Haas, sparking speculation he could follow Haas out the door. But Willison is understood to be waiting until November 1 only so Merhi can negotiate the extension free of his previous management arrangements. Brisbane have offered a three-year deal and are open to a fourth season. Willison, who has overcome two ACL injuries to become a premiership winner and Test player, is set to take over from Haas as the Broncos' front-row leader in 2027.
