Broncos and Eels in bidding war for Knights recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan
Newcastle recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan has been offered a record $2.5 million to leave the Knights, with the Broncos and Eels locked in a bidding war for his services. One club has tabled a five-year deal worth $500,000 a season, the most lucrative contract ever offered to an NRL recruitment chief and well above the roughly $350,000 package he's on at Newcastle. O'Sullivan is contracted to the Knights until 2029, but the club won't enter a bidding war and will grant him a release if he wants to move. Regarded as the game's best recruiter, he has signed stars including Greg Inglis, Latrell Mitchell and Reece Walsh, built much of the Dolphins' roster and masterminded Dylan Brown's move to Newcastle, a deal reportedly worth $14 million. The Broncos are his preferred destination and would hand him control of their NRL roster. O'Sullivan says he'll decide in the coming days.
