NRL considering AFL-style wildcard weekend

The NRL is considering introducing an AFL-style wildcard weekend as the competition expands. Under the proposal, 7th would play 10th and 8th would play 9th for the final two spots in the top eight, with the aim of reducing dead rubbers, keeping more teams alive late in the season, and discouraging clubs from resting star players. Peter V'landys says the idea is back on the table and will be discussed with broadcasters.
